Former EPA chief to campaign for Maine candidate

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman will be in Maine on Thursday to campaign for Republican congressional nominee Charlie Summers.

Whitman, who formerly headed the Environmental Protection Agency, will address a fundraising breakfast in Portland and then join Summers on campaign stops at two businesses in Westbrook.

Summers is challenging Democrat Chellie Pingree for the 1st District seat being vacated by Democrat Tom Allen.
