Rep. Walker, Whitman Raise Funds for RLC

The Republican Journal
Rep. Bob Walker, R-Lincolnville, met Christie Todd Whitman, former New Jersey governor and head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, at a fundraiser Aug. 6, at Point Lookout.
Walker was one of a number of area Republican legislators who hosted a fundraiser for the new Maine chapter of the Republican Leadership Council, an organization co-founded by Whitman.
The Republican Leadership Council seeks to build a strong coalition of individuals who want the Republican Party to return to its traditional, fiscally conservative roots.
According to Walker's press release, the council supports low taxes with balanced budgets, a strong national defense, engaged foreign policy, protection of the environment and less government interference in individual lives.
“I believe the Republican Leadership Council supports an agenda the majority of Americans already support,” Walker said in a press release. “And I am confident the more people learn of our agenda, voters of all political interests will respond in a positive manner.”
The new Political Action Committee will support Maine candidates for both local and State House elections.
