Missouri
Welcome to the Missouri chapter of the Republican Leadership Council.
I am Dena Ladd and I serve as the Missouri captain. I live in St Louis and am active in state politics and various issues such as the stem cell initiative.
The mission of the Missouri RLC is to support fiscally conservative, socially tolerant candidates at the local and state level. By doing this the RLC hopes to return the Republican Party to its basic principles. The RLC's vision is a Missouri Republican Party unified by the basic tenets of fiscal responsibility, low taxes and less government interference in our lives, while allowing for various opinions on social issues by its members.
If you would like to join our efforts in Missouri, please register on this site to receive email alerts from RLC-PAC and email me at Missouri@republican-leadership.com.
Missouri Republican Leadership Council
May, 2008
In February of this year, the Missouri Republican Leadership Council’s state chapter and political action committee was formed. The purpose of the Missouri RLC is to bring together Republicans around the state who believe in a Republican party that is unified by the basic tenets of fiscal responsibility and personal freedom, while allowing for diverse opinions on social issues by its members.
The Missouri RLC Chair, Senator John Danforth defines, “Why We Are Republicans”
- Republicans are internationalists, not isolationists. We believe that America must assume the burden of leading the civilized world. We believe that America must have an engaged foreign policy, and must be the bulwark against terror and chaos.
- We believe in paying the necessary price to maintain a strong military.
- We believe in free markets and free trade.
- We believe that the weight of taxes and governmental regulation should be light.
- We believe that people should make decisions for their own lives, and that where government is involved, it is better if it is close to the people and not concentrated in Washington.
- We believe that courts should interpret the law, not create public policy.
In the upcoming year, RLC meetings and events will occur around Missouri to bring people together to discuss the issues. Last fall, the first Missouri RLC event was held in St Louis. National RLC chair, former Governor Christine Todd Whitman and Senator John Danforth were speakers. The event was hosted by Bruce and Kim Olson and 120 people turned out to raise money for the Missouri RLC – PAC.
On May 6th, an event was held in Springfield, Missouri hosted by former State Senator Rosann Bentley and her husband, Dr John Bentley. Approximately 100 people attended the event to hear Senator Danforth speak about the RLC and what we hope to accomplish in the state.
The first St Louis RLC meeting was held in April with Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson as the guest speaker. More RLC meetings and event are planned around the state in 2008.
Through a political action committee, called the Missouri RLC – PAC, we will support the campaigns of Republican candidates, on the state and local level, who share the RLC’s vision. In the upcoming August, 2008 primary, candidates supported by the Missouri RLC include:
David Pearce, 31st State Senate District, www.pearceforsenate.com
Neal St. Onge, 7th State Senate District, www.nealstonge.org
Joan McGivney, 91st State Rep District, www.joanmcgivney.org
Ryan Silvey, 38th State Rep District, www.votesilvey.com
Eugene Dokes, St Louis County Council, North County, www.edokes.com
These candidates need your personal support as well as our PAC support. Please contact them directly and learn how you can get more involved in their campaigns. The Missouri RLC will also support state candidates for the November, 2008 general election. Information on those candidates will be sent out in the upcoming months.
Many of you signed up to be our on email list through the national website. At the time, the website only requested your name and email address. If you did not give your mailing address, please contact me with that information. I would like to pinpoint where our supporters live around the state. When the Missouri RLC is holding a meeting or event in your area, I will be able to send you information on the event.
Thank you,
Dena Ladd
